Question Changing font without changing Text Style.

    Hi all there,
My post title says it all. How can I change the font of a text object without changing it's text style. Using properties window, I could change Width, Height, Layer etc. , but not the font. I must confess that even after using AutoCAD for yeas, I don't know this pretty simple thing. Your help is highly appreciated.

Question Re: Changing font without changing Text Style.

    Hi

I assume you are referring to Text Objects ( created via _.DText ) and not MText Objects ( created via _.MText ), is that correct ?

    Have a good one, Mike

    Hi,
Yes Mike, you are right. I am referring to the text object created using DText command. Please advise me on this. Thanks for ur help.

    Hi

As far as I know ( which means nothing ), you actually have to change the Text Style ( set-up using required Font file ) for Text Objects created via DText, if you want the characters displayed in another Font.

Using MText Objects, there is not such a limitation.

    Have a good one, Mike

Unhappy Re: Changing font without changing Text Style.

    Hi mike,
Thanks for the reply. But it's really annoying to create a text style only to change the font of one or two text objects. More interestingly, you can change almost all other properties like height, width, layer etc. independent of the text style. When i check inside the AutoCAD VBA object model, there are some properties like 'fontfile' or 'bigfontfile' attached to the textstyle object. I wonder why don't they make it open to the users. By the way, Mike, do u think it deserves a place in the wish list...?

    Hi har!s

    Your choice...

Personally I use nearly all MText, therefore such a change would not really affect what I do.

Smile Re: Changing font without changing Text Style.

    Hi,
Thank u for the reply. If all the expert people are using MText, then why shouldn't I...? I am going to switch to MText rather than using the normal text. Only problem i am facing is that I have to rewrite my VBA macros so as to accommodate the MText. Let me give a try. By the way, I would like to submit a few macros to get it modified by the programming people here. Is there any place dedicated for this purpose...? Or else should i post it on the VBA forum..? Pls lead me in the right direction.
