I tried changing the page size in Word to 22" x 22" and it still crops upon insertion into autocad. Any other suggestions?

    I'm getting desperate...help?

well that's no good ..... you could always try simply copying the text and inserting it into AutoCAD. That way it becomes an entity within the drawing. Only negative is that the link to the Word file will not be there ..... but if you insert it into the drawing then you'll be editing IT anyway so the link is irrelevant ....... wanna give that a shot? Is there a specific reason why it HAS to be in a Word document?

Is THIS a possibility for you?

$60USD is roughly a 1/2 hour of billable time, looks like a deal to me...

LMAO. What, do you work for them or something?

I'd definitely try to get my company to spring for that but, like most businesses, they're cheap. I've been unsuccessful in gettting anything but the most basic funding for CAD stuff from my past employers ....

It's a great idea, but sometimes it's not a decision that the average employee can make.

No, but since the purpose of these forums is to help other users, I just try to suggest the best, cheapest solution, whether that be a method built into AutoCAD or a 3rd party tool (free or not).

To me, spending several hours of billable time to figure out a way to get something done is less productive than finding a tool to do the job and acquiring that tool and then using it.

If you were chopping down a tree and all you had was a screwdriver, it wouldn't make much sense to listen to suggestions like "sharpen the edge of the screwdriver", etc. when getting a SAW is the real solution. That's all I'm doing - trying to suggest the right tool for the job.

I guess some companies would rather spend money to pay billable employess to "find freebies on the Internet" than what I described above.

    Well I'm just saying.

I thought it was funny cuz you plugged the product earlier (maybe it was in another thread). All feeble attempts at humor aside, your analogy makes perfect sense to me. And, at home, it's definitely the way i choose to do things. Unfortunately, not everyone sees things our way.

I guess some people prefer screwdrivers. Maximum returns for minimal investments.

    All that being said ...

    Gabe,

Unless your employer is willing to buy a product to make the job easier, as suggested by Mr. McSwain, I think you'll find your options limited. Unfortunately OLE seems to be an area where CAD has not expanded as much as it has in other areas.

thanks for all the advice. I opted to copy and paste the word document as separate 8.5 x 11 OLE entities. That way they are still Word objects...the only drawback is flow from one part of the same document to the next.

about this 3rd party solution. I hate adding new softwares.technologies to the mix because it inevitably means more problems, and translation/communication between different systems. In a bind it would work as a solution for me but I like to minimize my dependence on alot of different programs over the long run.

    thanks again.
