    Post Length variable parts

I have many length variable parts in our library that I would like to be able to copy out of the library to assembly templates for a job. Use the adaptivity for the part in an assembly to extrude from/to in the context of the assembly however there is no parameter that defines the length once I make the from/to extrude.

I tried using a driven dimension on a projected edge of a sketch along one of the extruded but the projection is not associative therefore does not update when the adaptive part changes length.

Is there a way to extract the profile extrude length from the model once the from/to extrude command is invoked?

    Thanks in advance!

Why not make an Ipart with custom parameters to change manually?

What kind of parts are these? If it's steel frame parts, the frame generator in INV11 might be the answer to your problem.

The parts are extruded profiles that we use to manufacture assemblies like conveyors, guarding and frames.

If I use iParts to drive the length I could just change the extrude length of the part which is not what I want. I am looking for an assembly I can use as a template with adaptive parts in it. THEN I need to be able to extract the extrude value from that part not from a separate sheet.

Why not use the skeletal modeling, in http://www.mcadforums.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=3645 you can find a tutorial of how to use this technique.
Is this what you need there are 3 lessons
