    Default Reference Path Updating Command

The company I work for has grown out of the server we were using. The new server has a different name. The problem I'm having is with the reference & image paths. They are still going back to the old server. The logical answer is to rename the new server the same name as the old server. The president didn't like the old name, so we have to resolve this another way.

I remember a command a couple of releases back, in 2004. I believe it was in the Bonus Tools. It would fix the paths without even being in the drawings. There is one in Express Tools/File Tools/Redefine Path but it does not work as good as the old command. This command seems to fix the reference files but not the image files. I made sure that in the options dialog the Image box was checked.

There has to be an easy way, please help.

Have you checked the Reference Manager. It is a stand alone application, which does not need AutoCAD running.

I know that you can fix this in the Xref Manager for a single drawing. I would like to fix multiple drawings all at one time. Maybe all drawings pertaining to the project that I'm working in. This was possible before.

Go to your Start menu and expand the Autodesk list. "Reference Manager" is in the list (I'm hoping you are using at least version 2005). Add the drawings but NOT the links that you want to repath and you can edit the link paths globally. It will also handle images, fonts and printer paths.
