    Default Suppressing layer when printing

    Hello,

I print dwgs in (2) sizes, one 11x17 for binders and A1 size. I also place a professional seal in these dwgs and here is where my problem lies. On my 11x17's, I'd like to keep the seals but not on the A1's. I know this can be done using lisps but I was wondering if you could also do this using ctb setups/settings-say my seal is on a layer named S-SEAL, can I create (2) .ctb files wherein in one it won't print anything in this layer?

    Thanks in advance,
    R

A ctb file cannot suppress a layer. It can suppress a color. Are there any colors that you do not use that may accomplish this?

Yes, I can assign a color to it. Is the procedure very simple that I can do it right away? Or can you give me an idea on how to do this.

Adjust the settings of your two seperate ctb files for the desired color(s). You would then change the color for the entities you want to have this affect.

I believe the setting is the Lineweight, but I am not certain as I do not need this functionality.

I'm not sure which AutoCAD release this started with, but in the layer dialog box, you can select whether or not a layer will plot. Scroll all the way to the right in the Layer Properties Manager and you will see a Plot column.

    Hope this helps, Glen

But that wouldn't be based on a set page setup. The user would need to remember to set the no plot status each time the desired plotter was chosen.

My memory is not sharp. But I think I have seen layer suppress facility in Batch Plot Utility with AutoCAD 2002.

Apparently, it is the screening and the lineweight.
