my name is neil from the uk, i use cad at work and stepped into the depths of 3d over the last few years.
As a keen star wars fan, and prop maker i used cad to produce a part for a fiberglass helmet that i have.
The part i replicated was made in the early 80's from model kits..... so after alot of searching the part could'nt be found so i used Autocad 2006 ADT to 3d build the part.
Once the part was made using cad i was able to get my 3d model manufactured in the usa in a working 3d model. This small part is only an 1" wide by 2" high and took over a year of reasearch a few months of designing/replciating.
Below is the final pics of the real part against the part i have replicated. The part is made from pvc and is very strong for its small size
