Default No matter which Workspace Profile I select, I get the 3D Modeling Workspace

For some reason no matter which workspace profile I select I get the 3D modeling workspace. How can I change the workspaces back to what they should be?

You could reload the "acad.cui" from the \UserDataCache directory.

Thanks for the tip, but only partial success.

I checked various settings and found that the default template file was set to 3d.dwt, so changed it to acad.dwt. However, when I change the workspace from 3D modelling to My Workspace, the toolbars etc. change but the workspace remains in 3D perspective.

    Hi

See if the following free tutorial from Moss Designs helps...

How to set 2007 back to AutoCAD 2D mode ( direct link to PDF file ).

    Have a good one, Mike

Changing the workspace (toolbar, menu location and visibility) does not change the template drawing or it's view.

You are expecting it to do something that it was not designed to do.

Thanks for the reply Mike & R.K. McSwain,

I think my problem is with understanding the difference between workspace and visual styles. It appears that 2007 defaults to 3D modeling (Acad3D.dwt) to open up and changing to My Workspace does not change the visual style, this seems to have to be done separately.

As I do most of my work in 2D (also use Revit), having the default template set to acad.dwt will suit me best for now. The visual style and dashboard is something for me to explore when I get a bit of time.

That is what I was trying to say. The template drawing you load (set in Options, Files tab) is independent of the "workspace".

Setting to AutoCAD classic isn't doing it...flashes (millisecond) the 2-d, then goes to the 3-d.

Oh, I figured out my problem.
Tools\Options\Files\Template Settings\Default Template File Name for Qnew\"really long address ending with acad3d.dwt
    Changed it to acad.dwt.
    Then saved my profile (again!)
Then added the /p "your profile name" switch to my desktop startup icon properties.

Whew! Got it! Boy was I cursing for a while there!!!

(I hope it retains it tomorrow)
