Default Plotting issues with PDF - Irregular Shaped Viewports

Sometimes we are forced to use an irregular shaped viewport in our drawings. This doesn't become an issue until we try to plot to PDF at which time the file blows up into a huge file size and usually crashes the computer. I haven't been able to find any info for this problem as of yet. Anyone have any ideas how to remedy this?

Plot file sizes are much larger when you use non-rectangular viewports.

    Here is some info.

Talking Re: Plotting issues with PDF - Irregular Shaped Viewports

I don't know if this helps but,
Our office prints with a KIP 2003 and we use "PowerPrint Request" software (which came with the KIP) to print plot files.
In this software you can convert plot files to PDF's and Tiff's with just a click of a button.

So when we need to create PDF's, instead of using the pdf writer through AutoCAD, we write plt files and covert them to PDF's. The PDF's are the full size of the original sheet and everything. Works great! I don't know if causes any problems with file size, we haven't had any problems.

I don't know if this is available through Oce' or anything else, but it was a nice discovery at our office.

Our Oce TDS800 allows us to scan to PDF. So if it's something we are going to print anyway, we can easily scan the print to PDF.

Angry Re: Plotting issues with PDF - Irregular Shaped Viewports

Well, I have run into this before, & it just happened to me yet again. However, I am not trying to plot a PDF.
I redid my page set up, did a preview, looked fine, so I saved it. I went into the plot command, it let me to a plot to file, like I wanted, went through the plot command like normal, then when it was almost done - with absolutely no warning, my ACAD shuts down. I lose everything. There are 2 viewports which are circular, which I know was the cause of the same problem in the previous project that I had this issue with, but we also found out that something in that previous file was corrupt. Does this mean that I, yet again, have a corrupt file? If so, without recreating the stupid circular viewports, is there a way to fix this? I have 24 drawings in this one section of this project alone, with 2 more phases of this same project, 20+ drawings in each phase.
I am on ACAD 2006 with LDT 2006.
    Thanks!
