    Default Failed Installation

I'm trying to upgrade several users' machines from ADT 2005 to ADT 2006. Each attempt to load ADT 2006 fails, with the following message logged:

Each user is on a recently deployed HP xw4300 workstation, 3 GHz clock, 2GB RAM, Quadro FX1400 video card. ADT 2005 loaded without problems on these machines.

2006 was loaded successfully on several other machines with existing seats of 2005 - just these HP's are problematic.

Are you installing from a deployment image?

I initially tried to install from the deployment image, which gave me the log file I posted earlier. I have also tried stand-alone installations on different machines, with the same result.

There should be a .net fix file located somewhere on the install disk. Locate that and try running it on the computers not cooperating before running the install to make sure that isn't it.

Are all Anti-Virus/Ad-watch programs turned off when installing?
Are you installing with Administrator rights?
You posted hardware specs, but what OS are you running? Does it have all applicable service packs / hotfixes installed?

Have you moved the location of the deployment image from where it was first built (or any of the UNC pathing names changed)?

Just some questions I ask myself when I have these issues which might help you identify the issue.

It turned out to be a BIOS setting. The machines came configured to NOT allow even the administrator to access certain file extensions, which included some of the installation files for ADT.

    Thanks for your assistance,

    Jim

Wow. That's a first. Did HP do that themselves? Just curious.

    Glad I could help troubleshoot.
