Question How to use a .bak file

Now I guess this will be a very simple answer, and I will kick myself for not being able to figure it out!
I am running LT2006 and I have misplaced a .dwg file although I still have the .bak file.
How do I change this to open with AutoCAD?
I used to click in the name and change the extension from .bak to .dwg but that won't work.
    How does it work?
    Thanks for any help!

I wonder if LT has the DRAWINGRECOVER command? See: http://lynn.blogs.com/lynn_allens_bl...g_recover.html for more details.

If not, you can still manually rename the .BAK file. Either do it in a DOS window (Start | Run | CMD) or make sure your file extensions are turned on in Windows Explorer (Tools | Folder Options | View) before trying to rename. If the file extensions are not visible, Windows appends the old file extension after YOU get through renaming a file. Your drawing file is probably named "mydrawing.dwg.bak" right now.

You need to have My Computer/Explorer set to NOT "hide extensions for known file types". - Through Tools\Folder Options\View. Normal renaming should then work but it's a good idea to rename to something like "tempfile.dwg".

DRAWINGRECOVER no it doesn't. It does have though DRAWINGRECOVERY. You may want to have a look at the HELP files for more info.

    Thanks,

Also don't forget about the *.sv$ autosaves, if you crashed whilst working on a drawing.
