As far as I know there is no way of finding that out.

I think it depends on the units of the drawing file whether imperial or metric

I agree with Glenn. There is no way to find out. In fact, it's possible to create linetypes without even using a .LIN file.

As for the reply from a_meteni, I think that is a reference to "acad.lin" vs. "acadiso.lin". Still no guarantee a linetype definition came from either of those files.

If it IS a choice between acad.lin and acadiso.lin, just start to load another linetype and see which file is offered in the list box.

Still no guarantee. That just points to the last used LIN file, right?

A DWG file could have linetypes loaded from both "acad.lin", and "acadiso.lin"

Another idea for sifuentes, download TO-LIN.LSP from http://www.turvill.com/t2/free_stuff/index.htm - this will create a LIN file from any linetype definition in the drawing. Then you can compare this file to the various LIN files to which you have access.

Yes. True. But it usually helps to look at the simple cases first.

I was hoping I could find out wether the linetypes had been loaded from acad.lin or acadiso.lin. The Load or reload linetypes dialog box defaults to acad.lin, regardless of which .lin you used last.

    Thanks,

    Hi

The following thread might be of some interest to yourself...

Which .lin file has a Linetype come from

Plus, you might try plugging the following search criteria into the forum search facility...

    Key Word(s): *Measurement* + *Linetype*

    *Measurement* + *Acad*

    Have a good one, Mike

    Thanks,
As noted above, you are not going to be able to identify the source LIN file (if any) from simply looking at the drawing - that info is not saved in the drawing.
