but those methods only affects "density" of the colored zone, but not really the tranparency.

Therefore have you looked at the ._Transparency command.
PullDownMenu: Modify -> Object -> Image -> Transparency
Might want to take a look at the following -
M-Color

The only workaround I am aware of is to create a dot hatch pattern with a density set to simulate a translucent hatch. Would be nice if it was added to AutoCAD as an addition to gradient fills.

Why draw straws? Just draw one straw and array it.

It sounds like you need to create a solid hatch and then send to back.
