Default After I create a Block via -Block it Erases the Objects

Hey everyone, maybe you can help. I am trying to use "-block" to create blocks. Here is my (should be simple) problem. After I create the block Acad erases the objects, I would instead like to convert this into a block. is there a variable I can set for this? How do I fix this?
Thanks in advance to all of you,
    Andre

Either insert a copy of the newly created block definition, or use the OOPS command.

Question Re: After I create a Block via -Block it Erases the Objects

hmm, I know that's in the dialog box, but I don't know if that would be a sys variable or an option?

all you need to do is pay attention to this sometimes forgettable little area to get the process to do what you want.
.... and what Melanie said, too. don't know of any SysVars...

Chris, he is not using the dialog box.
The OP said he was using the -BLOCK command

Cool Re: After I create a Block via -Block it Erases the Objects

~nods~ if I have time later, I was planning on perusing the handy sys var guide...

Just out of curiosity, what made you choose the "-block" command over the "block" command? According to the ACAD help file, the only way to get your objects back after the "-block" command is to immediately do an "oops" as someone already said. If instead you use the "block" command, you get the dialog box that Chris posted and are able to choose to not erase your objects.

Hey, hence why I said "just out of curiosity". If there's a benefit here I'm missing, I want to know!
Both hands on the keyboard? Get out!

-BLOCK is one of a handful of commands that I use (in place of the dialog version)
-LAYER is another although not always. For some tasks, the dialog is more appropriate.
-VIEW, almost always use the command line version
    -BOUNDARY, same - command line
-HATCH, useful when you want to define the are to hatch on the fly.

On the other hand, command like ARRAY and UNITS are easier executed with the dialog version - IMO
