    Default Inserting Excel Worksheet

I know that you cannot import/insert an excel file directing to Revit. I have read all the posts about different solutions and haven't found one that answers my question. I have Revit 9 and have AutoCad 2006. I'm having trouble when I import the CAD file into revit. It brings up a window that states "Some elements were lost during import. Active X and some proprietary components cannot be imported. Try exploding the file in AutoCad , or setting the PROXYGRAPHICS to 1." I tried importing the file into a drafting view and thats the message I received.

I've also tried exporting out of CAD as a Bitmap image and importing into Revit. That worked although the resolution sucks.

Is there any easier way to do this?

    Question Re: Inserting Excel Worksheet

    Two questions:
1.- What are you trying to do?
    2.- What is it for?

What objects are in your AutoCAD Drawing that can not be read by Revit?

If it is an excel spread sheet have you tried to import it as AutoCAD objects in your Autocad drawing?

After this you can try to import the AutoCAD file into a Drafting or Legend view in Revit

    Best regards
    Alejandro

It is a finish floor schedule for a lobby. When I inserted the CAD file that had the excel sheet it wasn't clear at all. It was very distorted. I tried inserting it into the Drafting view but that did not help. Any suggestions?

you can save excel spreadsheets as .txt files, i save it out as that, then highlight all the text and copy it into revit, though it will require some editing.. ive found its not that bad

Just copy cells straight from excel and paste into text in revit. Any formatting is lost, but column positions remain and are controlled by using the tab key.

You would think a program like Revit built from the ground up as a MS Windows program could accept MS Excel sheets.

Are there efforts to this end to get external file into Revit?
