Default not showing hidden line in hidden mode

I attach a rvt file here.
inside it, there are two slabs drawn which are on different floor height.
so I created a slab edge (thickening) to connect them together,
very common case in drop slab.
    My question is :
no matter I join or not join the three objects (2 slabs + 1 slab edge),
under wireframe mode, all hidden lines indicating object below shown
normally. (because I have set slab edge always be hidden in object style)
But under hidden mode, all lines below disappear.
As you know if I export rvt model to dwg, and I choose wireframe,
all lines would be overlapped in the output file, while export in
hidden mode would clean up all duplicating lines.
so can anyone suggest a good solution for this problem ?

I would recommend leaving your object style set to solid so that any 3D or Isometric views display correctly. Toggle your view to wireframe and use the linework tool (keyboard shortcut LW) and select whichever line style you wish from the drop down menu. Then simply click the lines you wish to be hidden and toggle display back to hidden line mode. If you're only interested in changing the outside edge (the one in contact with the underside of the higher slab) you can hover over it's location with the linework tool while in hidden line mode and select it. The reason you need to toggle to wireframe to get to the middle line is because it is twice removed. Its also important to note that this approach is view specific.

Another approach would be an in place family (sweep or extrusion) for the slab step which utilizes symbolic lines.

See attached file for an example of both.

thanks Paul. You really help me a lot !
This solutions are surely simple and straigth forward.
Just don't understand why objects underneath can't be shown,
    but not for wall.
If you create wall and make it stops at underneath of a floor slab.
using view template of structural framing, all wall under would
    shown hidden .!
    why not other features ?

Since walls are a system family I'm not sure how they are producing this. I'm guessing it's either programmed or a symbolic line in the family. I agree that the symbolic line approach in the family does have some limitations as you have found with the slab profile (since you can't add them to this type of family). Concrete beams that are flush with the top of slab (joined or unjoined) are another one that I would like to see shown hidden automatically.

That said, I prefer Revit to err on the side of showing too few hidden lines as I think I would be more frustrated by it showing too many and having to run around with the linework tool and invisible lines. I am all for more / better control in this area however. RST3 has added some new hidden line tools (show hidden lines, remove hidden lines) which work well in 3D views to show obscured geometry through other elements. Perhaps this tool could be enhanced to provide some additional control in plan views as well. Until then keep the linework tool handy.
