    Default Some plots come out rotated 90 degrees via Sheet Set

    We've been running into an issue at my office. We've switched over to using sheetsets with a plot override template for plotting out our multi-page jobs and it works great, most of the time. Occasionally we've run into an issue where the finished plots come out sideways (i.e. portrait instead of landscape). I've checked all settings and everything apears to be in order. I even imported the page setup from the template into the drawing and did an individual plot within the drawing and it worked fine. It's only when using publish or sheet sets that we experience this issue. We're currently running ACAD '05 & '06. Any ideas on a solution?

    Thanks,
    MC

    Question Re: Some plots come out rotated 90 degrees via Sheet Set

    Hi

    Does this issue / problem occur on all output devices ?

    How are the output devices set-up for AutoCAD use eg

    * Windows Printers ( Windows Driver ).
    * .PC3 using Windows Driver.
    * .PC3 using Heidi Driver.

    Is there anything specific about the drawings files that rotate 90 degrees when plotted eg

    * Contain Image files.
    * Contain OLE Objects.
    etc

    Have a good one, Mike

    To the best of my knowledge we're using .pc3 w/ Windows Drivers. The symptoms show up as the entire plot being printed in the orientation opposite of the intended arrangement. For example sending a landscape print results in the plot being oriented portrait so half the drawing is off the page. The most frustrating aspect of this issue is it's inconsistency. It usually crops up the day a big project is due but the next day everything works fine! (sighs...) I tried everything out today and it seems to be working great whereas it was all messed up two days ago.

    Any ideas appreciated!

    Just wondering witch type of plotter you use?

    Thinking a little bit loud here,
    ACAD:
    Drawing Orientation (plot upside-down)
    HPCONFIG
    OCECONFIG

    PLOTTER (hard & soft):
    Nesting on/off (time to nest)
    Queueing on/off (in order)
    auto-mirror
    papersetup
    clip

    Hi

    You may wish to take a look at the Autodesk Technical Document ( ID: TS52278 ) referenced in this thread ( Problem Batch Plotting (Publish) w/ Xerox 8850 ).

    We are using an OCE TDS400. And sometimes I do think it to be a "witch."

    Mike, thanks for the link to the ATD. I checked the settings per its recommendations and they were set correctly.

    Olaf, While exploring the device settings I was unable to locate anything regarding nesting and queing. I sure it's there but IT has us locked out of many of the settings for the network plotters. Mirror was set to off and paper size is determined automatically by the roll size and the plot job sent to the printer. I noticed you mentione OCECONFIG. What is that? I tried looking at it in ACAD and couldn't locate it.

    Thanks everyone for your input. We're currently up and running but I like to figure these problems out before there's the infamous next time.

    Sincerely,
    MC

    Hi

    I wish you the very best of luck with your Oce, especially if using their Drivers...

    ID: TS17604 - Error when invoking HPCONFIG, OCECONFIG, or CCONFIG commands: Unknown command

    Hmmm. Not a particulary reasuring tone to your post there Mike. Do Oce's have a bad rep with ACAD products? If so are you aware of any fixes or posts here on the topic? I believe we are using their drivers...

    Thanks,
    MC

    Hi

    Oce may very well build, make good quality Plotters ( hardware ), but from my own personal experience they can not write a good, fully functional, error free, Driver ( software ) to save their...

    Below is just an example...

    RE: Attached Excel Spread Sheet causes multiple copies

    RE: Large Plots

    Have a good one, Mike

    error free - I realise such a thing is impossible, but I think you catch my drift.

    Mike,

    Thanks for the input and help. It would appear that this issue may simply be due to the oce drivers. You've mentioned some other types of drivers that I'm unfamiliar with ( I have been a "passenger" and done little work regarding device drivers ). Could you point me in the right direction to find said drivers and get information on how to implement them?

    Thank you,
    MC
