I've opened an SR on this - we've been able to isolate the issue to specific sheets on specific projects, only in 9.0 (i think.. hard to prove.) Let you know if i get anywhere.

postcript or non postscript drivers though, not sure whats on it now will check it out.
I've found that the print spooler service is crashing on the printer. You can go into the services for the server, set restart parameters for the print spooler service and avoid some of the pain - still have drawings dropping out of the que, and a lot slower running, due to the service crash/restarts, but it helps some.

you may want to alter the setting for optimize for pictures or for drawings/lines....i have found with pdfs and drawings that each setting can make a major difference in plot time

We've discovered that Revit 9 won't print to either the HPGL or PS queues, asn are now converting to PDF's before plotting. Quite a nuisance.
Luckily, we only use this for colour - Oce works fine for working drawings.

setting the pc to control the spooling in plotter configuration is a good option but it slows down everything until the plot is completed. Tryadding more RAM (pc133 64MB) to the plotter. I am using Revit 13 out of BIM box and can see your problem.
Try converting to NAVIS as the file is much smaller and then send to plot from Navis Works. Failing that convert to dwg file and then use DWG to plot option from plot menu and there you are. PDF take longer to spool but make sure you use AutoCAD pdf as it maintains your line thicknesses and not make them bleed like Adobe pdf.
