    Default PDF Printing from Bluebeam

Has anyone successfully printed a drawing set to PDF from Bluebeam? The image I get for each page is fine, but Bluebeam isn't extracting the Sheet Name for the PDF the way it will the Layout Name in AutoCAD.
I know, DWF works, but our clients don't want DWFs, they want PDFs. I find it interesting that Revit had a PDF printer back when Autodesk had the lame idea that DWF could replace PDF. Now AutoCAD 2007 can make PDFs directly, and Revit no longer has a built in tool. Weird.

    Thanks,
    Gordon

We're using pdfFactory, which you can get at www.fineprint.com

It will print multipage PDFs in a snap. Better performance than other PDF writers I've seen...

I've been giving a postscript driver from adobe a shot that has actually been working quite well. its the 'Adobe PDFCT' driver. I select this as my printer, then click 'print to file', that way it doesnt' prompt for a file name or anything, then use the distiller to get them to pdf. This has worked pretty well so far but it is not a batch print either, or at least I don't know how to get it to batch. I will check out the above mentioned too. Sound easy. I am really digging dwf though. It has just a few unpredictable bugs though, the kinds you never know if they're going to be there, so I'm selective on when I use it.

Pdf factory is still my fav. Batch plot works fine, single page or multiple page pdfs, auto names on batch single page plots. Just click and go. Keep it simple.

    Hi,
I tried Bluebeam back at Revit 7 or so, and found that among about 5 pdf writers ( including Pinebrush), Bluebeam consistently made the largest files by some margin.

I think it is a way over hyped writer ( by the manufacturers of course) ...there are loads of writers at least as good ( such as pdf Factory, CutePDF, Primopdf, PDF995 as well as Adobe of course) but which produce much smaller files, even if they might not have all of the same features ( as each other).

I've heard the next version of Windows will have PDF creation capabilities built in.

We are using CutePDF now, and running into trouble printing from Adobe InDesign. Fonts look like **** using CutePDF or PDF995, but Adobe Acrobat and Bluebeam give me good fonts. But I'll be damned if I pay those loosers at Adobe $300 a seat for something my users need about 3 hours a month. Bluebeam was looking good, but without solid Revit support, it would become a headache sooner rather than later.
I need to check out PDF Factory. Maybe it works with InDesign as well.

    Thanks,
    Gordon

But will it print nice fonts from Adobe products, batch plot properly from AutoCAD and Revit, make a nice small file with good looking images, and work with older Acrobat Readers that many of our clients still use? That is a tall order for Redmond But I certainly cross my fingers. I suspect I will have a beta on a VPC in the near future.

I think that was the next version of Office, but I heard pdf support was pulled. I haven't had time to check the latest beta.
