    Default RE: new linetype

I'll post my question here as it's basically the same...

I'm trying to make a fence linetype ie -- / -- / -- I have drawn it in cad, used the expresstools to make a line type, and the end result is the standard centreline, what am I doing wrong?

Attached is a copy of the baseline drawing i used

In case anyone else is going to try - I took three line segments (-/-), moved them so that the left-hand end was at 0,0,0 and used mkltype. Result = a centreline.

    Thank you, VLG
I worked out how to make the linetype from your files.
    1) Can other linetypes be added to these files?
    2) Do i have to add this linetype file to everyone's pc's or can I just add it into the template? (I'm doing a College night course and we haven't got to customisation yet)
    3) Will I have to send the linetype file with the drawings if we send them to clients?

No, you don't have to do anything you are asking.
Just make sure you do a Etransmit command and send everything that is compiled by it and send everything to whom you are sending it. Mainly it's the Fonts that you have to worry about.
The person recieving the file will have to follow the instructions on the .txt file generated by the etransmit to make sure he/she is seeing the same thing you are when viewing the drawing.

Thanks Firmso, as the 'designated' cadd / I.T. Manager wouldn't I have to add the linetype somewhere for the rest of the office to use it?

Of course, if you already have a library or sort that you've created in your server for everyone to access, by all means drop it in. If you don't already have, go ahead and create one so everytime you have a project that needs it, just browse to it and load.
As for giving dwg's to other persons outside your realm of connectivity, you do not need to send them the linetype files cuz it should already be preloaded into the CAD file itself when you inserted the linetype or browsed/loaded.

Glad I could help, I think all of yer questions have been answered already.
If you send the drawing to someone without the ancillary files then it will open just fine, they will get a missing file alert but they just have to cancel the window & the drawing will open fine.
For your own organisation I would suggest putting the files on to the pc that will be using the line, just so they drawing opens quickly for them & they won't get p'ed off & try to lynch you.
