Default wall type legend no link on type mark

ive read on some threads and started to do my wall/partition type using the legend option. my question with this method is that it lost it's link in my type mark for the wall type. if the objective for revit is for 'minimal' coordination, if i use this method, there is a chance that the type mark gets changed but the legend 'text' label stays the same.

is there a better way to do this? or to keep those values linked somehow?

I hope someone will Qoute me on this and set me straight.
But unfortunately, that is how it's been done with Revit for ages now. It isn't that bad though, as long as you keep the type of windows you are using to a minimum.
We just have to live with it till they...uhmm..figured out a fix.
