    Default Staggered Section

    Hi,

Is it possible to create a staggered section in Revit? I want to put in a building section, but I need it to be something other than a straight line through the building.

So far the only way I can see to do this is to cut two partial building sections and then connect them in the sheet view. Not terribly elegant.

    Any suggestions?

Draw a detail line or reference line where you want the section to break.

Set up two different sections starting and finishing on that beak line.

Place both section on a sheet and slide one to join with the other.

Use a blank view tag for one of the sections.

Having said that, i Revit its very easy to just run with two sections rather than a staggered section. Staggered sections were used in manual drafting and 2D cad days to save time setting up and drawing sections. They arn't all that necessary in Revit, where you can produce as many sections quickly and easily as you wish.

I agree, your not hurting anything by just adding another section or 2 or whatever, and your most likely saving yourself some work depending on how anal you get about your sections.

    good luck

Come on guys, even "Archicad" does staggered sections, it is not so much to ask, I have requested this from the Revit team myself, time will tell if it is implemented.

By the way, the request to allow for a more elegant way to create stepped/offset sections has been submitted and is under consideration by development.
