Map 3D 2007 FATAL ERROR: Unhandled Access Violation Reading 0x001c...

I am having a problem with AutoCAD Map 3D 2007. I have imported ESRI shape files and coverages both, as polygon coverages. When I go to add text, as soon as my cursor crosses over one of the objects in the drawing, it freezes and I get the error:

"FATAL ERROR: Unhandled Access Violation Reading 0x001c Exception at 7830f78h"

I am running Windows XP Pro and have installed all service packs and hot fixes that are recommended. I have gone as far as to un-install and re-install AutoCAD.

I have also gotten the same error while trying to figure out what is happening by creating a new drawing, entering the command "mpolygon" and creating an mpolygon, then trying to add mtext. As soon as the cursor crosses over the object, I get the same error.

Any suggestions anyone? - I would also be interested if anyone else can create the same problem by doing the latter exercise. I would like to know if it is an AutoCAD Map 3D 2007 bug.

Just an idea: Does it still happen when you turn Selection Preview off?

Options/Selection Tab/Selection Preview section - uncheck "When a command is active" and "When no command is active"

Have you verified that you have the latest video drivers installed? This sounds like a hardware, specifically video, issue. Have you tried adjusting the "Performance Settings" in OPTIONS, on the System tab?

Yes, I ran through the performance process.

I have a Quadro FX 1300 card runnig drive version 6.14.0010.8426, which is the latest version available for this card.
