Question Ceiling Height in Finish Schedules

Hello, this is my first post to the forum. I am using ADT 2007 and have just made the jump to Project Navigator. It has definitely been a learning process--sometimes on a minute by minute basis--but I have already fallen in love with it. I am working on a rather large project (84,000 sq.ft.) and have been creating custom property sets and custom schedules for the project. My question involves my finish schedule. I currently have the finish schedule referencing a "spaces" construct for all of it's information and have used a ceiling height property set for the corresponding column in my schedule. My problem is that there are a number of rooms that I would like to have "EXP" (for "exposed") as the value in the ceiling height column. The property set is obviously looking for a dimension value here, so I can't type in any text. Conversely, this project has well over 100 rooms and changing the property set to a text value and manually entering each height is a tedious process I would rather not do if I can get around it. Lord knows I have enough text values in my property sets that already require this approach. Is there a workaround for this that I am missing? Thank you in advance for any help you may offer.

I developed a VBA routine to automate this back 3.3 days. I suspect you could do it directly inside your schedule. Add a property to the space object that is manual, name it clgcondition or something. Then manually add the necessary override condition for each each space that might require it. Examples could be "EXP", "Open to Above", "Under side of roof deck", etc.

Then create a formula in your schedule that looks for a value in the clgcondition property. If there is data there then use it in your schedule, otherwise display the height property from the space itself.

To read more about the If/Then/Else Statement in VBScript, including a sample formula for overriding an automatic property value, you may want to take a look at this blog article.

Not to pick on your table information, but is "EXP" actually a ceiling height? Isn't it more of a finish or material?

Thank you very much for your help, guys. I greatly appreciate it. I suspected there was a way to override a value, but was ignorant as to how to accomplish that. In reference to the question, the "EXP" represents a LACK of a ceiling finish/material.
