    Default Rolling Door family

Attached is a rolling door it was modified from the stock rolling door family with a Arch instead of straight line across the top.

Problem is when the door exceeds the width and height of 20'w and 16' height the rolling unit becomes visible. And I don't see any constraints to set the rolling unit to the apex of the arc so that the rolling unit remains out of sight. I don't see how this on family was created!

    Any suggestions?

    David

It needs more parameters to control the relationship between the height of the door and the arch radius. I added a 4" locked dim. between one of the reference planes and the top of the arch. Then I added a dimension label "Arch Radius" so you can control the radius of the arch. The opening can be tricky to select...just tab through in a 3d view until you select it and hit Edit, then view it in elevation to see the constraints.

Thank you dude. (sigh) another one to reverse engineer like the angled post.

David, Where did you put the 4" locked dimension? I looked left right front and back but do not see it. The rolling unit was originally locked to something because in the file I posted I tried to move it and the arch was moving up and down with it as well. So somehow it was locked was it to something in the family?

    Thanks,
    David

    You're welcome

Take a look at the attached....you need to tab until you select the opening cut, then hit the edit button and you'll see the 4" constraint (locked dim) that I placed.
