    Exclamation Plotting with a border

    I have a predefined title block and I want to print it out on 8X11 paper in a fashion so that there is a 1 inch whitespace on all fours sides of the title block to the edge of the paper. I have tried it in paperspace successfully in the past. But now when I do it, though the plot preview shows what is desired, the actual printout does not show reflect what is shown in the plot preview. When I plot to PDF, the output is also different from the plot preview.

    Any ideas on how to get it right?

    Thanks

    Hi

    Look at the Printable Area of the Paper Size you are Plotting to.

    My printable area is 7.94X10.60 inches. I want to make a 8X11 printout.

    Given that, what should the printable area be changed? If it does need to be changed, how is that done?

    Hi

    Have I got the following correct...

    * 8 x 11 paper size with 7.94 x 10.6 printable area.
    * Output requires a 1 inc border / margin all round.
    * Therefore printable area required = 6 x 9

    If yes, then your current set-up should work. Within the DWG file what is the Plot Area being selected ?

    If no, please explain some more.

    Plus, here is some information on Printable Area and Paper Sizes...

    I think what he is asking is how to get the border in the right location with the 1 inch margins all around. I used to have a routine that would draw the boundary of the actual paper size. I'll see if I can find it again. It was crude but it did do the job, (most of the time)

    Within AutoCAD, the plot area selected is Window.

    Hi

    Within the DWG what is the actual Plot Area being selected via Window option ?

    Ok! how is the Plot Preview and PDF output different ?

    Here is the file I mentioned earlier. There are two options when running this file. You can have it draw a polyline at either the actual paper edge or a polyline 1 inch from the paper edge. The limited testing I just ran works for AutoCAD 2006.

    Place this routine in a location that you can find it. After AutoCAD is running, you can load this routine via the VBAMAN command. Look for the LOAD button. After you have loaded this routine, you should see a MACROS... button below the LOAD button. Selecting the MACROS... button will take you to a new dialog box. You would then select this macro "LayoutLimits.dvb!ThisDrawing.DrawPaper" and press the RUN button. Follow the prompts.

    In AutoCAD, with Window selected, the plot area is what is selected with the mouse.

    The plot preview shows what I want, with the one inch whitespace. But the PDF output shows the whitespace on the right side of the printout to be wider than the left side.
