Default Re-justify Block insertion point without moving existing Blocks

Has anyone seen a program that allows a block's insertion point to be changed but the block stays where it has been inserted at?

I'm looking for something that works like Justify Text where you can change the text justification but the text stays where it is, only I want to do it to a block.

Here's what I do. I go to the line command and when it says first point, enter "insert" it will prompt "of", and just hover over the block. You will see a 2square grip appear at the block's insertion point. Draw a line with ortho on from that point either vertically or horizontally, remembering the starting point since that's the insertion point of the block. Then click on the block, right click and go to edit block in place. Then when you move the block, you will know where the original insertion point was and you can offset the line you made from the insertion point, or move it a certain distance based on the location of the insertion point. Then save the changes, and you should be good to go.l

If you use CAD 2006 or 2007 you can go into Block Editor and add a Basepoint Parameter into the block and it will replace the original insertion point you specified when the block was created. THe nice part about this is that you can go in and simply MOVE the basepoint and CAd automatically reassociates everything.

I don't think CHANGING the insertion point is the problem... that's easy. The problem is when the blocks are redefined in the drawing, they change position according to the "NEW" insertion point. I believe they're trying to get away from this happening.

Hey Coolmo that's the problem!!! I'm thinking it would require an intelligent lisp program to accomplish this. BTW I using AutoCAD 2005.

More than likely. The program would probably have to cycle through all the blocks in the drawing with that name, figure out the scale(s), rotation angle and position of each and then adjust each accordingly..... I'm guessing
