    Default Keyboard Short-cuts / Tips

here are a few for the keyboard lover in all of us!

If you type ‘EXPLORER’ in the AutoCAD command line it will open windows explorer.

While in paper (layout) space typing ‘MS’ or ‘PS’ will drop you into or out of a viewport.

    Ctrl + R = cycle thru viewports

Hold down the ctrl + tab and cycle thru your layouts

Alt + tab = cycle thru active windows

    Ctrl + S = quick save

    Ctrl + Q = quit

    Ctrl + O = opens a drawing

    Ctrl + N = starts a new drawing

Ctrl + P = starts the plot dialog

Using the up or down arrow keys will scroll thru recently used commands

Holding down the shift key will unselect objects

Using ‘U’(undo) will work in most commands.

I think Ctrl + Tab cycles thru open documents and not layouts. I believe this is a windows standard keyboard shotcut that goes along with Ctrl+C (Copy), Ctrl+X(Cut), Ctrl+Z(Undo) and Ctrl+V(Paste), which most MS Windows programs uses.

    True.

Ctrl + PageUp/PageDown takes you through the layouts.

Honestly, I don't know this keyboard shortcut. I tried PageUp and PageDown and it doesn't work. Ctrl+PageDown/PageUp does.

Cool Re: Keyboard Short-cuts / Tips

You can also create an alias for EXPLORER and more through the command alias editor in the express menu. Select the Shell Commands tab in the dialogue box, then add your alias, I use WX (windows explorer)
An easy shortcut to open drawings on a network is, when you reach the folder where the drawing is, before you open the drawing, move the cursor to the "look in" panel to the left. Right click and select Add Current Folder. It now adds the folder. You can then right click the folder to rename it if you want You can add and delete folders as required. I find this very useful when working on multiple projects.

Isn't it easier to press the [Windows Logo key]+E than typing "WX" then space bar? ...Unless you don't have the Windows logo key.
