Question Keyboard speed (quick keys) in AutoCAD 2007

Okay guys… here’s one for ya… I use my right hand to mouse with and my left to key-in quick keys… the issue is in AutoCAD 2007… I can type “co” (copy) and start to place a circle… or “ex” (extend) erases the object… or “tr” (trim) allows me to start a text command… I think you get the picture…

I have no problem with the reaction time between the key-in and the command in AutoCAD 2002… is there a setting that controls the sensitivity or speed of the key-in’s for AutoCAD 2007? Or do I need to slow down, which kind of defeats the purpose for quick keys, doesn’t it?

    Any ideas? Thanks...

Do you have dynamic input enabled? If so, disable it (DYNMODE = 0).

IMO - this should have been disabled by default....

Question Re: Keyboard speed (quick keys) in AutoCAD 2007

Is dyn input really that slow in 2007? I haven't had a problem in 2006. (I love Dynamic Input, and I'd hate to have to turn it off when I upgrade to 2007 )

You probably won't notice any difference between this in 2006 and 2007. If it's fast enough for you now, it will probably be fast enough for you in 2007. For me, it's unusably slow in both releases, and its failure to echo at the command line is a fatal ergonomic flaw.

2006 and 2007 are equally slow with DYNMODE enabled. The OP said he was coming from 2002 (no DYN) though.

just an observation but, i've found that when the command input is not near the crosshairs, it's tons faster... but, i can't figure out why it's not showing the crosshair command input because i have it toggled on... it just quick working... weird, huh?

i will let you know if i figure it out... thanks for the help...

its also possible for the acad.pgp file to be messed up. if you are getting a circle for for the quick key input. if you do like we do and some of autocad's commands and support files on a server and someone may access it and mess it up, it happened to us. thankfully it was and easy fix

TEMPOVERRIDES doesn't seem to make a difference.
