Default CUT LINE TOOL SHOWS BLACK SPACES

    ADT 2006

I have always used the Cut Line tool in the Documentation palette. In the past it always acted like a trim line, based on the trim plane concept.

Now it appears that the Cut Line tool creates a masking block. The masking tool is fine, once you learn how to control it, but the problem is a printing issue. I ran test plots yesterday of my project and there are black spaces all over the place, where ever there is a cut line.

Am I missing some sort of setting to make the visible mask disappear?

Well, the object used is an AEC Polygon, not a wipeout or mask block. Check your display settings for the AEC polygon style to make sure they line up with your plot style. Otherwise it may be a plotter issue. I recall having problems with wipeouts printing black on certain HP printers that had drivers that just wouldn't deal with the wipeouts well.

in the properties you can change it from a masking polygon to a standard cut line. this will eliminate the black parts on your plots. however, you cutline is nothing more than a cutline this way.

The properties box call it a masking polygon, and I can find no other display properties to manipulate.

I am currently using it as a cutline, but that sort if defeats the purpose of having it.

It is a switch issue, If you switch your paperspace display properties to be white, it will work. It is actually picking up your black background.

I had the same problem with wipeouts and my Xerox plotter / scanner. I updated the drivers and it fixed it. I think it has something to do with plotter raster images.
Why is it called common sense when it is so rare?
