I am using 2006 and dual screens. Often when I open the layers property manager dialog particularly in a drawing with many layers, both screens will flicker and there is quite a delay before I can actually use the layers property manager.

Hi Perry,
Have a look at THIS faq and see if it helps you out.

Thanks for the reply. I don't believe layer filters are the problem. I very seldom use them. If they were present would I not see them in the dialog. I have used the lsp to remove layer filters but this has not made any difference.

Have a good one, Mike
Thanks Mike - no I have not yet had a chance to look at all the links. But I have previously searched the forums for possible answers to this problem which I have had for some time, probably since installation of Acad 2006.(and probably already tried many of the links) However I have just discovered today that clicking outside the dialog ie in the drawing space seems to stop the flickering. In light of this does anyone have any further suggestions?
Hi Perry,
In addition to the FAQ, I have seen problems with the layer dialog running Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 with 2006. If you have 2.0 installed, I would drop back to 1.1 with its service release (K886903) (uninstall 2.0), and see if that helps. I would work through the suggestions in the FAQ first, though.
Another thing to verify is that you have the latest and greatest video drivers for your specific system.

Running ABS 2006 (sp2) and have a similar condition. Layer manager is slow to open and has a jerky response when selecting layers. There are NO layer filters present and is not drawing specific. I can open the same file on my workstation with no problems whereas my coworker is very slow. We have two new quad core dell precision 690/t7400 workstations running xp 64 with 8 gigs of ram and quadro fx 1500 and 1700 video cards (latest drivers loaded). Indexctl set to all settings with no change in performance. Purged the drawing, audited it but like I said previously my workstation (690) opens the same drawing with no layer manager weirdness.
Anyone out there have any idea what else to try.
