Default WBlock, Ctrl+C not working in AutoCAD 2000, same drawings work in AutoCAD 2006

    This is a recent problem.

In some dwgs, CtrlC/Copybase/wblock fails unless * (the entire drawing) is selected. That is, none of these actions succeed for a selection set -- any entity, even a simple text entity. This is happening using AutoCAD 2000 (file saved from 06 to 2000) The commands work fine when the 2000 dwg is opened using AutoCAD 2006, but not when the 2000 dwg is opend using AutoCAD 2000. (Perhaps AutoDesk has done something deliberately?)

We have 2000 and 2006. If the same dwg is opened in 2006 the commands work normally. As mentioned above, this is a newly observed problem. We used to use another CAD program to save 2004=2005=2006 dwgs to 2000 dwgs It seems that this problem started when we started using 2006 to saveas 2000. I would prefer, and am trying to persuade more licences for 2007 rather than the other CAD program -- but this problem is not helping.

Has anyone else had this problem? (It is SIMILAR description to the saving 2007 to 2000 problems/threads but seems to be different in that the 2007 problem seems to effects any other version; we are not using 2007; I can't know if the files I am getting were once 07 saved to 04=05=06 but the 07 described problem seems to say that if that were the case then WBLOCK, etc. would not work in 06 either, but it is working in 06 just not in 2000 from a file saved as 2000.

Have you tried running an Audit on the file in 2000?

We are using ADT 2007 and I believe its is because it is a totally different dwg format. Even though we have it to save back to 2004 nothing will work if you open it in 2006. Also along the lines of your w-block, be careful that the w-block is set to be saved back to the oldest version that you are using.

    Hi

In the interest of science ( testing ) it might be worth trying DWG TrueConvert with Hotfix - Cut and Paste applied. Refer HERE for additional details if required.

Or maybe post an example drawing file that exhibits the behaviour you have described above, so others can take a look at the issue / problem...

    Have a good one, Mike

The HotFix seems to be only for AutoCAD 2007 (...17.dll) and we using 2006 and 2000 so no joy there, but thanks for suggestion.

Ctrl-C,etc. failes using Acad2000 in the attached <FIRERATING.dwg>.

You should be able to download the DWG TrueConvert and apply the Hotfix - Cut and Paste to the DWG TrueConvert which Mike has mentioned. You would then need to use DWG TrueConvert to resave the affected file to use in your 2006 and 2000 versions of AutoCAD.
If you have a technical question, please find the appropriate forum and ask it there.
You will get a quicker response from your fellow AUGI members than if you sent it to me via a PM or email.

    Hi!
We have the same problem in our company - CTRL + C fails in some ACAD2002 drawings.
    This:
    http://www.dwggateway.com/
    solved the problem.

    Ragerds,
    Tom.
