Default Revit elements screened by Imported CAD dwg's

Is anyone else having a problem with imported AutoCAD drawings screening Revit elements. We use the arch. plan drawings as an underlay for our plan drawings, and change them to halftone in the visibility graphics. We have tried many different scenarios, and can't seem to solve this problem. Any suggestions?

do you import them as a model element or a symbolic object?
If as a symbolic object, do you have them set to foreground or background?

If you import to "current view only" you will be able to select whether you want the imported file in the foreground or the background. If you need it in other views just copy to clipboard and past aligned "same place".

Thanks, we have tried that, but we use hidden view for upper levels, and the only time we can see the backgrounds is through holes in the slab (like at elevator openings, etc.). If we set it to foreground, it screens slab edges, columns, and walls.

    Hi,
Have you tried to add a separate level and import the arch. drawing there? Put the level well below your lowest building level. Then you can select that level as an underlay and it should show up.

And believe me you are not the only one with this problem. We talk about it a lot. If you do a search in Revit Building General on this subject you might get some other ideas.

select the imported instance and set its elevation to just above the slab.
