Question Export AutoCAD rendering for use in sign graphics?

I did a rendering in Autocad using SuperHatch (mostly) for a client. Now he would like to put it on a roadside sign at the future construction site.

The Sign Graphics people say they need an EPS file which allows for transparent background. I can't seem to get a suitable image file to them to use on a large sign.

    Here's what I have tried:
    1) Export as EPS file only does CMYK separation (solid on 4 layers)
    2) a. Print screen
    b. Imported to graphics program & cropped on 36x24 sheet.
    c. Smudged, blended & touched-up picture.
    d. Exported as EPS went from 2mb file to 75mb file
    e. Results appear to be too grainy.

Need help on proper way to get this to Sign Graphics in the quality needed.

If you can get your hands on Adobe Illustrator, it will open your DWG file directly, and then you can save it as EPS.

I keep getting an error when Illustrator tries to load the DWG file.

No preview available, hard drive works for 20-30 seconds & then the error message is displayed.

I tend to create the object, then use saveimg to export a bitmap, then possibly you could use a program to convert the bmp to a eps. The higher the resolution on your screen, I believe the higher the resolution of the bmp

If you have Acrobat, I suggest printing your DWG to PDF and save as EPS in Acrobat.

I used the printScreen method to capture the screen at 1600x1200 pixels. Then pasted into my graphice program for touch-up aa in my original post. I also saved as JPG at high resolution. According to the Graphics people when a JPG is enlarged as big as they need it gets very grainy, so wanted an EPS file.

The file size went from JPG=2mb to EPS=75mb

The preview in one of my programs (Photoshop) looked grainy, but this is the first EPS I 4ever created & there are lots of settings for export I may n ot have set properly.

Was hoping someone here had produced images suitable for "sign" size.

Question Re: Export AutoCAD rendering for use in sign graphics?

    Hi

Have toy tried Plotting directly to EPS from within AutoCAD ?

Add-A-Plotter Wizard -> My Computer radio button -> Next button -> From "Manufactures" list select Adobe -> From "Models" list select PostScript Level 2 -> Next button...

I did try direct export to EPS, but it only gave solid CMYK separations of the entire image.

Will have to give your Plotter method a try....Thanks
