Bring Excel data in AutoCAD drawings

Hello!
I am currently creating electrical wiring diagrams. I take all the information from certain columns in Excel and retype the info. in the AutoCAD drawing. A coworker has seen someone (in the past) have the info. in Excel automatically appear in the AutoCAD drawings, after some basic wire diagrams were created I am sure. So, I am trying to find anyone who may know how to do this or what steps to take. This would speed up drafting immensely!

Also, it may be similar to ddatte to change info. in a titleblock, but I did not set that up so I am not sure how that works.

For starters, take a look at the links offered in THIS post...

Depending on exactly what you want to do with the data from Excel once it is in AutoCAD, you could also look at OLE and AutoCAD Tables.

If you want to bring the Excel spread sheet directly into AutoCAD the same way it appears in Excel there are several 3rd party programs that do a very good job of this, but once it is in AutoCAD you can do nothing with it. If this is what you want the one I use is AutoXLS

Are you talking about importing Excel tables into AutoCAD? If so, take a look at XL2CAD.

If that is not what you are talking about, then you might have a look at AutoCELL.

This is something that want to do too, have some sort of simple linking device that allows you to live link to a cell in a spreadsheet as a Field in text, for example.

OK, I've got items to link. Now, I just need to edit the text somehow to match and print correctly, and hide the box that shows behind the text.
