Default Lines that Join w/o my permission

So just call me question Queen =). So I was wondering when I'm detailing in Revit I some times will draw a line as a reference and then on it's own accord it decides to marry the line I put it close to, or the line that the ends touch.

This may sound confusing let me clarify. Line A was drawn at a 90 degree angle vertically on the screen. Now lets say I draw B at the tip Line A 90 degrees horizontally. Now if I decide to move Line B 2" Up or down this action will change the length of Line A. Can I stop this from happening? I know I can split them but is there a better way?

Move the object using the Disjoin checkbox in the Options Bar before moving.

I'm not seeing that box which may be because I'm dealing with lines and not objects, maybe or am I blind as a bat and the box is there with the lines also? I think I'm going to assume this is just something I'll have to cont. to work around. Thanks for the insight though I'm sure it will come in handy.

In order to move with disjoin, you need to us the Move command (under Tools menu).
Another option are Ref Planes. They do not have joining mechanisms, but beware, they show up in every view (except 3D)... which can be good or bad

yep. once you select the line you want to move, click disjoin. never knew this option was there. i just drew my lines a little longer than required (like im working with a pencil) then trim them back. i like the fact that the lines join sometimes though, makes stretching easy.
starting to get used to the drafting tools in RS3....im diggin it.
