Default Fatal Error: Out of memory

I'm running AutoDesk Land Desktop 2005 on XP SP2. When opening specifig drawings, I receive an error message "Fata Error: Out of Memory." Then Land Desktop closes. I had this problem before and fixed it by installting a different build of Land Desktop. However, now I am running this same copy of Land Desktop. Any suggestions??

check your taskmanager om memory usage when handling this file - see the peak memory usage - is it close to 1,8Gb??

What is the fysical ammount of the memorybank of your computer??? Setting up the 3GB switch on the boot.ini file might be an option...

try adding more ram memory to your computer, when we had that problem, we were only running 1GB on Vanilla AutoCAD, we upped it to 2 GB and the problem doesn't occur as often, we were just maxing out our resources

    Hi Evan

Please note I have *moved* this thread from the AutoCAD General forum to this one...

    Thanks, Mike

I have 2GB of RAM already. But I looked at an early post, when I had this problem before. The problem is the version of Land Desktop. The version in which I receive this error is 16.340.0.129 and the version that works is 16.310.10.92. I have no idea what the difference is between the versions. But I used a program called Aida32 to get the version information.

    Thanks for the replies.

After installing Service Pack 1, I received the error. My solution, don't install Service Pack 1!!! SP1 changed the version number.

SP1 shouldn't cause a problem. In fact LDD 2007 is nearly useless without it - it crashes constantly.

Sounds like you have some other problem going on. I'm not sure what it could be, though.

Well, we'll be upgrading to LDD 2007 in January. But we only receive this error when SP1 is installed. If SP1 is installed every machine that has it gets the error.
