    Default total building weight

Is there anyway to determine the total weight of the entire building w/o going thru any calcs? Let's say I have designed my building with various floor, wall and roof systems and now my prof wants to know what the total weight of the structure will be for seismic design.

Other than creating schedules in Revit to calculate and tally this information are you utilizing any of the analytical links with Revit? I believe several of the analytical partners software packages are able to provide self weight totals for the majority of the structural components which could be added to your other design loads for a quick relatively accurate check/total. You may also want to check out the ODBC output to excel. This would allow you to leverage the Revit data and setup a workbook in excel that could calc it for you. May not be worth the effort for a single project though.
