The eyeball by default aspect of Revit has been the hardest thing for me to get my head around. I spent 15 years learning to draw it right the first time, and Revit gives me no option but eyeballing for way too many things, in my opinion. I hope someone has an answer, and if not I hope the factory adds the ability to snap to anything, all the time. Accuracy should at least be an optionOriginally Posted by vinsova

No. But I have a work around.Originally Posted by vinsova
We needed to cut a section exactly down the center of a vaulted space. First I laid a column grid line down the center of the space. I made a style called center with no grid head so it could act just as a centerline.
Next I placed a structural framing elevation on the grid. Framing elevations are attached with the projection plane at the grid line. Then I hid the elevation tag and placed a section marker referencing the elevation symbol's drawing
Yes. If there is no section head on the section line you will be able to select the ends of the line as move or rotate points. Just turn off the heads, then move/rotate into positions (don't use the default rotation center-move it to an end), then turn heads back on. Not as elegant as Revit could make it but It can be done with fairly little fuss.
Edit: Oh and I forgot to mention the sections will snap into alignment with walls (angled or orthogonal) and such when you first place it even though it is not positioned in line with the face of the wall. Rotating the section line does not do this. In this case all that would need to be done is move from end point of section line to point on model. and clean up as needed.

Better late than never but here is a simple solution:
1. Move section line using the keypoint of callout head to a keypoint of the face you wish to align to.
2. Select section line,
2. Select rotate and check place (rotation point) option,
3. Place rotation point at keypoint of callout head,
4. Select end point of the section line as the reference point,
5. Rotate to a keypoint or(or snap nearest) of the face you wish to align to.
6. Done: All you need to do now is move the section line back to where you want it to be and adjust extents.
Make sure you select the section callout head as the rotation point as it does not seem to work if you select the tail first.
Cheers and hope it is of use to someone else.
Draw a reference plane. Align the plane to where you want the section cut. Draw a section cut from end point to end point of the ref plane.
