    Default AU in the UK

Following the suggestion from Inferno6919 ( ), here is the poll about an AU in the UK.

Personally, I think an AU in the UK would be a huge success (same as every AU really), judging from past experience (AUGI CAD Camp 2006 Guildford, AutoDesk Conference 2006 London). I am in favour of something like that and would like to know what your opinion is.

    Thanks,

Perfectly honest, if it comes to the UK, I will go anywhere to attend! (yes, even London although I would rather avoid it!!!)

    Cheers!

    Only London would do

I would attend no matter where in the country it was, except Preston maybe....

    Thanks,
I'm sure an AU was discussed a few years ago but it was thought that it wouldn't be that well attended. There was a company that held various "AU" meeting across the UK a couple of years back but that was just a look at the new modeling software and nothing like AU US.

Maybe a AU Europe would be a better success.

Anyways it would have to be held in Scotland. Think of the whisky and the beer.

It would probably be done around this time of year. I think the one in Japan is running now. Keep in mind the usual release dates of the software. Wouldn't want to train everyone on 2007 software a month before 2008 releases. Also, probably wouldn't want to do it when there's a high probability of a blizzard or anything like that.
Give people a job worth doing, the tools to do it, recognition of a job well done & get out of the way.

You are absolutely right, it is a matter of scale. I would think that for an inaugural AU, or whatever it turns out to be, we should try and keep it manageable in size, then grow it from there, hopefully linking up with other EU countries and chapters in the longer term.

It would be a terrible thing if we tried to make it huge and it flopped.

Perhaps that is what they are trying to do with the CAD Camps? Starting small to get a following and then go from there? I really don't know or have insight into that, so I couldn't tell you - just a guess.
