Default Title Blocks and Electronic Seals

We are having issues printing our sheets, weird issues. We tried printing dwf and then printing that to PDF so we could plot it. The dwf looked great, but the pdfs lost the section tag and callout heads. Weird.

So, we're plotting to pdf with the adobe pdf writer (pain in the you know what) and we have some mystical glitch where the electronic seal (jpg/tiff) likes to vanish and reappear. It has plotted on every sheet at some point, but varies from day to day, computer to computer, and nothing consistent seems to resolve the issue. Then again, we're not really happy with how we're doing it. We have it linked in to every sheet view as a raster image instead of having it in the title block as linked images seem not to transfer in along with the Title block.

Is there a way around this? We want to have these images in the Title Block ideally but can't seem to make it happen. We may be crazy, or just plain dumb, but help us anyway!

    Thanks!

I've had a similar problem on a project where we started with DWF and then created PDF and lost tags. I suspect it had to do with the tags being linked to views in the DWF. I don't know what was done to correct the problem though.

Have you considered printing directly from your DWF?

The printing service we use does not allow us to print directly from DWFs though we are in the process of changing that. However, it could be fixed tomorrow or in three months. Until then, we're stuck using PDFs.

We also had this problem. we just decided not to use dwf anymore, but when we upgraded to 9.1 and the most updated dwf driver and viewer the issue was resolved. we upgraded them both at the same time, so I'm really not sure which one fixed it.

as for the seal, we found that using a dwg (in a "seal" family) worked best. this gives a parameter by which to control whether the seal is displayed, or the Not for Construction disclaimer, etc.

another way I've used the seal with some success is to have the seal in a pdf stamp. you obviously have acrobat pro, so you can use the stamping feature. the cool thing about that is the sealing is done "post printing" from Revit, therefore your seal (whether image or dwg) is never embedded in you model. there's just an uncomfortable feeling i get when someone (client or otherwise) asks for my model, and i have to worry about whether i stripped that kind of stuff out of it first.

if your ultimate goal is a pdf (rather than dwf) this is a nifty way, but it takes an extra step outside of Revit to get there. not difficult, as the stamp can be applied to all sheets in the set at once.

for automated multi-sheet pdf printing, try PDFCreator from PDFForge, i think. I have been very successful with the output, and it's free!

    cheers!
