Better to have individual drawings?

Correct me if I am wrong, but when using the SSM, does it work better if you have individual drawings. I currently have 4 rather large buildings and the way we handle our dwg's is we have one master dwg for each building.(downside to this is all of our computer are top end). We put all of our disiplines into one dwg, then we use our layout tabs as the "sheets" which are numbered to a disipline. I use Publish to handle our printing duties, loading different sheet list depending on the disipline. I tried to use the SSM, but the problem I had was I was having to create the same dwg for a different sheet in the SSM.

I'm not sure I understand your question?

You can import as many layouts from one drawing to be listed as a sheet in the sheet set.

Well, I tried with a little help from my vendor, to set up sheet sets and the conclusion that was given to me was since I use one master dwg for a whole building, setting up a sheet set would require me to make multiple copies of the same dwg.

No, just xref in the master dwg to each plottable sheet drawing.
