Pre-set CAD Block Layers?

I wanted to take the basic doors and windows that come embedded with autocad and change the layers to our office standard so the next time anyone takes them from the tool palette on any machine, it will be inserted with the correct layers and colors.

I tried to insert them into a new drawing all together, edit them as I needed and then saved those objects to a new tool palette, but when I insert them into a new drawing all the layers and colors are re-set to their original settings.

Is there any way to keep this from happening?

Stupid me, did it again...asked a question and as soon as I finished I realized the reason...I changed the layers and colors in the display settings, but I didn't check the box to override it so when it was inserted it was reset. So to keep it I just have to have the check box checked. Sorry for taking up space, this post can be deleted if seen fit.

Why delete it? If you had the problem, someone else might have the same problem and need to know a solution. You provided both.
