How to make the plot sheets open faster?

Hi,
I'm facing a problem for the time the plot sheets took to be opened, I think that the cause of the problem is one of the X-referenced files, mainly the grid file.
I think because the grid file uses a CENTRE line type, and it is too dense (comparing to the other files), I found out that when i changed the line type to CONTINUOUS, it took less time to open, so do you have any smart idea that I could follow to overcome this problem? it is really annoying to sit in front of a monitor waiting for a file to be opened (I think that you know that)

when the file starts to open press the Esc key this will make it load quicker as some of my large dwg files also are slow when opening

or it could mean that the file could be becoming corrupt
