solid fill on wall - override?

I want to create a presentation floor plan from a cd set. I want to see the walls solid black (infill of the walls) so i was thinking that i would just use the coarse fill pattern, but i use it for fire ratings and dont want to loose that information for the rest of the cd set. i thought that i might be able to use the filter and override, but there seems no way to access either the material or the fill pattern of the wall.

Any one have any advice?

My, my, Justin, you have grown so much in the last year. I looked into this for you and unfortunately I could not find anything to override to cut pattern either.

What I did try was the filters (like you suggested before) and cranked up the line weight and set the level detail to a course level. This gave the wall a prelim look to it. You may have to filter it by wall types and assign a different pen weight depending on the wall thickness.

I know this is tedious but it may work for you.

yeah when you actually start using the program and learn how to use it, not how it was intended to be used you can get pretty far.

hey thanks for the idea matt. I did go about this route but found it overoad to much of the room information and made the wall appear to thick.

I saw some threads in the wish list that kind of asked the same thing so for the time being i think that i am sol.

i do use a hatch pattern to show the fire rating at coarse scale. the issue is that i want to have solid fill on all the walls without getting rid of the fire tape. I have a cd set and need a presentation plan but dont want to loose the original information.

Is the need for presentation drawings a one off kind of thing? Is it ok if it is a "snap shot" of the building? If so, copy your model, and just change all the wall settings to get what you want. Very "un-revit" I know, but it would at least be probably the simplest way to solve your current problem without jumping through 20,000 hoops.

I thought about that, but came down to saying f-it. i didn't like the idea of a copy plan because there is always some change that will occur and i will need to remake the plan. i was hoping the filters and overrides would work, but as noted above no dice

Just to be clear, I was suggusting that you copy the whole file.... might be a typo on your part above. No big deal, I just like to make sure I'm understood.... As I said, very un-revit..... I wonder if that new program from A-Desk would help "Impressions" its a free beta right now at autodesk Labs.

yeah i have checked it out and used it. it is a really great idea and a step in the right direction. i think it will fill the want more then cd dwgs, but rendering is too hard look. I like that it that it can look really hand sketchy and sometimes that is much better to show a client then a rendering!

Here is my suggestion, Select a wall, right click select all instances, then create a duplicate wall type with a suffix like Pres, then do the same for the other wall types, now from the project browser you will be able to swap alll the walls fairly quickly.
