Type Catalogs and Type Marks

Is there anyway to add the type mark parameter in a type catalog? It seems the type mark parameter only becomes available after a family is loaded into a project. I'm using type comments for the time being but I would really prefer to use the type mark

Have a look this family and the catalog file to get a better understanding how it should work. Basically you wont need to add type marks if you do your catalog correctly.

I don't want the tag to pull from the type name, I want the type name to be descriptive and the type mark to be a number...for example one of our pieces of casework would have a type name of 29" 3 Drawer - 15"W but I want the type mark to be A34F for the tag....am I making any sense?

Your type mark is this a custom parameter that you have added to the family? The Reason being that I would make the name of the family 29" 3 Drawer , my type as 15"W and have a description that would say A34F. This way my tag will always pick up what I have specified inside my catalog correctly.
