    Default Language / unit conversion

My company has recently secured design contracts with a large Canadian company. My organization is headquartered in Virginia, US. We will be downloading CADD dwgs. created in French and metric units and uploading our dwgs. that are created using English and Imperial units.

Does Autodesk offer any sort of language / unit converter or LISP routines that will allow us to share dwg files in our respective languages and unit formats?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you

I don't know of any language convertors, but AutoCAD allows for automatic units conversion based on a few drawing variables.
If you have a technical question, please find the appropriate forum and ask it there.

    Hi

Personally I would recommend you work in Metric on those projects; it could save a lot of heartache / trouble further down the round (I speak from experience on such matters).

The following utility from Autodesk may assist / help you on the different DWG language front (if I am correctly understanding your issue / problem)...

ID: DL8109007 - Modify Drawing Codepage Utility

    Have a good, Mike

I can't speak to converting the language but if you use the proper insunits setting Auto cad will automatically convert the drawings for you.

    Hello troy.barnette,

    Welcome to AUGI buddy.

I prefer to start with the bad news, automatic translation doesn’t exist. (No matter what anybody may tell you to the contrary.) Good news is you should feel free to post any language issues you may have over on the French forum. No, we don’t do free translations, but we will do our best to help you any way we can.

I agree with Mike, 100% on that one. Listen to the voice of experience.
(Otherwise it will be a Nightmare! in my humble opinion.)
Oh, and by the way do enjoy the project you may learn a lot from it.
    See ya,
