    Default Dual monitor help

I just bought a dell precision 390 dual monitor setup with a Quadro 2450 display card.
I can drag Revit over to the 2nd monitor but not a revit window, can anyone tell me how to get a Revit window on both screens? or can u only drag seperate applications across?

I wasn't aware that you could do this with Revit. I think you would find through searching these forums that this has been a topic of contention.

Go to Nvidia software that comes with Quadro card. Install and go to setup. Has varying methods of display. One is to "spread" view across both monitors. Use that one. You can then spread single Revit window across both monitors. Then you can open as many windows or views as you like and they will fill both monitors or a single view will go full screen across both monitors. Have done this over the past year with dual Envision monitors with separate cards even and not a dual head as I am supposing the Quadro is. Works nicely except the pillar of the two sides of monitors but you get used to it and work around. Running 2-17". Bought a 22" but still get more screen space with the 2-17". So sticking with that. Running a second computer with Acad as a mate on the 22". Works well for me.

I got an optiplex and dual 19"
What I do to put a program on both screens is to first restore down and then drag the corners of the window to fill both monitors. A maximize seems to only max on one screen unless you use the special nvidia features

The only things you can drag 'outside' the Revit parent window are the project browser and the various dialogue boxes. Most of my people run Revit on the primary screen and use the second one for reference materials - images, spreadsheets, surveys, etc.

This is way I tend to use it also. Was there a formal decision made to do this or was it the way most people just found to be their preference?

Like David says, extend the Revit Window to the second monitor then you can move the internal windows around

There is an nvidia geforce setting which allows you to spread the main window across two screens but maximise the view windows to each screen. This is great for having the 3D views, browser and tools on one screen and your working windows on the other screen.
