Default Masses not hiding floor hatches.

I am using masses to show system furniture work surfaces and while the masses placed at 28" AFF hide the floor pattern underneath in the view it does not hide in the plot preview. Will I have to put a filled region in and constrained to the mass edges in order that the floor hides from under the mass? For now I am just gonna turn off the floor pattern.

Masses are not the best tool for this.

You might conside an in-place family, but the mass tool was really designed for building massing. There is a lot of data overhead such as volume, floor area and other stuff attached to these objects.

However the best solution is to make a Furniture System family.

Oh well thanks Aaron, I was attempting to keep it simple and had some hope to do a one off thing and copy it around as needed.

    I'll do as you suggested.

    Thanks,
    David

Aaron, Did as you told me to and it works as a charm, relaized that I didn't need the dimension parameters all all since these could be sized as needed.

Scott, I was trying to make quick work of quick work! : )
I am waiting for someone to tell me they want to schedule the systems panels and worksurfaces....... ; )

You want to make an inplace family then( a real family is better but for quick stuff you can do inplace but anything meant to be copied you really should do a real family for it.

Massing is for the big picture, ie building forms, not furniture or casework. Note the tools to create furniture and casework are the same as the massing tools, so if you know one you allready know the other.

The default material for Massing is also set to transparent. You can change it to be opaque if you want it to obscure things.
