Default unable to open DWG file, trying to decipher the contents of the Drawing Recovery Log

    Good morning,
I have a Recovery log file which I received from a draftsman in Thailand regarding a file we sent to him. He couldn't open the file. Does anyone have any ideas what all the bafflegab means and how do we help him recover the file (could try sending it again but we sent it in DWG and DXF and Zipped format already).

    Drawing recovery.

You specify that you (or your firm) sent the file to the user in Thailand? Is your copy of the file corrupt as well?

Can the Thailand user insert that drawing into a new (blank) drawing?
If you have a technical question, please find the appropriate forum and ask it there.
You will get a quicker response from your fellow AUGI members than if you sent it to me via a PM or email.

Sorry I took so long to get back. He did try to bring the corrupted file into a new drawing but without success.

Just curious; you are both using the same version/type of AutoCAD software, correct?

Has he tried using the insert command to insert the drawing into a blank drawing?

    Good morning, I'm back,
I checked with the Thailand connection and he's using 2005LT. There were other files sent at about the same time which went thru without a hitch.

I'm sure you have; but just in case, have you tried simply resending the files. I've often gotten files that just didn't send correctly.

Try purging the Regapps and then saving the file as a 2004 DXF format file.

Just to clarify - I believe that in order to purge the regapps, you need to run the purge command from the command line, not the dialog box. (put a hyphen in front of the command -purge)
