Default How do I make revit faster?

    Hey,
I am workin on a ratehr large revit file (~65 meg). When i zoom in and out and when I pan the screen goes blank and takes a sec or two to refresh. I am runing revit on a P4 2.8 GHz 1GB RAM with a GeForce 4 video card.
I would apreciate any sugestions on how to make it so that I can see my drawings while I'm zooming and paning would be great. Is this just a seting I need to change or is this hardwied into revit?

    Thank You in advance.

Have you tried the OpenGL Acceleration yet? Go to Settings -> Options, and check the box to use OpenGL. Close and re-open your project and see if it improves your zoom/panning.

I did try open GL ... didn't do much, Thank you for the tips page I'll see what I can do. I think ultimately I just need allot more ram...maby another gig. I think revit is very ram intensive. More sugestions are apreciated as getting more ram will be a last resort.

    Thank you

Are you utilizing worksets and selective open? There comes a point where hardware just doesn't help(at least not any affordable hardware and I haven't heard of any stories of screaming fast revit on any machine) So you must use the tools revit has created to break up large projects and only view the portions of the project you are actually working on. You'll just have to deal with slow regens if you want to look at the overall picture(however typically you can turn off all interior partions, furniture, casework etc worksets and still see the shell relatively fast. Its just when you have the huge number of items to hide that revit slows down.

How many views do you have open at one time? Use the Close Hidden Windows, under the Window pull down to isolate only the visible window being active. This will help speed things up. Generally, RAM is very important, and it seems as if one Gig is a good amount to have, 2 Gigs seems to be a little overill at this point. I also work with Open GL off, I've never found it a benefit with my video card, and in fact its faster without open GL.

Also found if you have been working for a while, close all hidden windows and then save (order is important). Seems to make a difference. Seems to purge the system
